Paper Abstract:      Organizations have been using service oriented paradigms (such as Service-Oriented Computing, Service-Oriented Architecture and Cloud Computing) to develop their systems and enhance their business processes. However, until now there is no consensus for the definition of what is a "service". This paper presents a systematic review, conducted in March 2014, considering existing definitions. Initially, a search protocol was defined and applied to ACM and IEEE digital libraries, and 830 papers were retrieved in this step; after the use of an inclusion/exclusion criterion makes possible the identification of 20 relevant papers which were further analyzed and incorporated in the study results.
